Description 🔉
Cheeky (in every way) vintage cast iron "naughty nellie" boot jack in unusually large size (10" long, 4.2 lbs). This lovely lady is laden with decades of character; besides a light dusting, i haven't meddled with the patina nellie's face and parts of her body have been made smooth from years of use. The discoloration, scratches, and pitting seen on this and other early renditions of "nasty nellie" are a testament to their utility and longevity (please note that the production date of this nellie is my educated opinion). The history of "naughty nellie" is a delightful tale of whimsy and practicality. This unique boot jack design gained popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries due to its playful depiction of a woman assisting in boot removal. The name "naughty nellie" is believed to have originated from the mischievous and suggestive nature of the boot jack's design. With a clever mechanism and a touch of humor, this boot jack became a popular household tool, making the task of removing boots easy and fun. Today, the "naughty nellie" cast iron boot jack has become a sought-after collector's item, cherished for its nostalgic charm and historical significance.
