A most impressive Foley China double handled commemorative cup, transfer printed and hand-painted and gilded, celebrating the Coronation of King George V and Queen Elizabeth, in May 1937. In view of the Abdication of King Edward VIII, there was little time to prepare for the Coronation of King George, and much of the Royal Memorabilia was provided by English Manufacturers, because the opportunity to place orders abroad, particularly from Germany, which had previously been the practice, was simply not possible, given the timescale, resulting in some better quality items being produced. There are a few little nicks in the gilding around the rim but otherwise it is in splendid condition for something which is almost an antique piece.
